The Easy Button

Today I am looking for the easy button. I'm having one of those days...I have been sick all week and thus am totally wiped out.... I think back about how wonderful my momma could make me feel taking care of me when I was sick.

Being sick does allow me for a somewhat reasonable excuse to linger in bed a little longer than normal... however, the end result is one big pile of neglected chores.... including the mile high pile of laundry I've been attacking since yesterday. But what do I find while on my mission to get back on track? This

A very hungry girl who made herself a snack out of the Milanos daddy thoughtfully purchased for me the other day...

Sorry Belle... I will make you a better snack tomorrow... however, Milanos for a snack ain't' too bad!

...I gotta read my Bible... I know that will make me feel better... it gives me strength... even when I'm weak.

Welcome little baby!!!

I knew this day-the day Belle would finally get to meet the baby- would be a great one! She is in love with all things baby. And having only toy babies to satisfy her nurturing instincts the opportunity to get her hands on a real live moving baby was a dream come true. Her offerings were endless... a pink plush rabbit, her little Bible, her purple baby blankie and finally... the holy grail... the one thing she had bestowed much affection.... her binky! Alas, the binky is gone forever!

Under Construction

Just playing with the look of my blog again....

Thanks for stopping by!!!!!

This is the apron that one day will be passed on to my daughter, and then hopefully to her daughter. Not too long ago I had been trying to find some vintage aprons that my paternal grandmother had owned. But sadly, my dad informed me that none had been saved. Who knew at the time that decades after her passing one of her grandchildren would have an interest in the aprons she wore. A couple of vintage beauties caught my eye on ebay, but how could they compare to an apron that I was so connected to. It would have been wonderful wearing one of Grandma Josephine's aprons... making my dinner for my kids and daydreaming about the many meals she had cooked and served to her ten kids - served to my dad - wearing the same apron. I would have definitely been serving a lot more sour kraut had they found one.... after all, it's what the apron was used to... being German and all.

But now I have my own apron. And it is a treasure worth holding on to. All because it was a gift from my dad. Since he was never one for picking out gifts...that was always my mother's department, I was overjoyed and so surprised when he presented me with this - my very own and perfect in every way - apron!

ps. I hope she likes aprons when she grows up! Otherwise.....it's going to my son. :) Am I projecting my sentiment on to my children? Somebody should want my apron... the one that means so much to me.... Right?

Yummy in my tummy

I love this food! Do I dare share that I ate three!!!

My heart's desire is to have....

A pure heart
That's what I long for
A heart that follows hard
After Thee...

A heart that hides Your word
So that sin will not come in
A heart that's undivided
But one You rule and reign
A heart that beats compassion
That pleases You, my Lord
A sweet aroma of worship
That rises to Your throne.

This photo was taken during my trip to Israel.

Face painting

Jack's face painting by Rainbow the clown was pretty cool. Even cooler... he looks like a redhead in this picture... Maybe I got my redheaded baby after all!

Bella Girl, Preschooler

These are the days I want to remember. A sad reality has settled over me. This may be my last baby. And as hard as I try, I cannot remember my son's life three years ago when he was three. I want to remember these days. But, if I cannot, then at least I will have these photos to remind me how adorable, how innocent, how precious these little God-given babies of mine are. Were.

Thank you God, for my babies.

Fall Preview

Fall is quickly approaching. This tree is already losing its leaves...

...and when we have enough of these piled up sky high the kids will run and jump into them until their little hearts content.

I love fall!!!

I just got these bread pans and I'm loving them already! My single, large, Pyrex loaf pan wasn't cutting it for my bread making attempts. So I can't wait to give these cast irons a try... I LOVE all things cast iron!

I love decorating for the FALL. I love making our home a special place for our children. They absolutely love it when they see all the little scarecrows and pumpkins and "leaves" around the house. I want them to always remember our home as warm, and cozy, comforting - A place that they long to return to when they're all grown up.

These tubs are full of my fall decorations that I have been putting out this week. I'm still not sure how the superman mask got in there... but that's where he's staying!

Growing up

She did it! Her first day of preschool went great! I wasn't expecting her to be so eager to go... a big lump developed in my throat after she grabbed her pink purse before we headed out. When it was time for me to pick her up she carried out her red folder and squealed with delight "mommy, I have homework!" I hope she still feels that way about homework in a few years! My girl was so proud of herself that she too had "stuff" to show us. She's so used to watching us make over all of Jack's schoolwork, and now it's her turn. And she couldn't wait to tell Jack, "Look Jacky, I have papers too! And they're mine! You can't touch them!"
